AIV Engineer

Who we are

Arqus is a space defence company. Our mission is to keep order in orbit. Just as a fighter jet secures the skies and a navy ship secures the seas, we are building the systems that will protect every asset above us, the satellites our economies, our security, and our daily lives now depend on.

Space has become contested. As the orbital domain fills with infrastructure and threats alike, Europe cannot afford to leave its most critical assets undefended. We believe Europe must have sovereign means to deter, defend, and uphold law and order beyond the atmosphere, and we take the responsibility of building those means seriously.

We are an ambitious team of engineers, physicists, and operators applying directed-energy and autonomy to one of the hardest problems there is. We are looking for mission-driven people who want to defend the high ground, and who welcome honest debate about the use of force in space, its limits, and its ethics.

Your Role & Responsibilities

You take our subsystems and turn them into a verified system. Assembly, integration, and verification of our C-UAS systems and space payloads: build procedures, integration campaigns, test plans, and the evidence that proves the hardware does what we say it does. You work at the point where mechanics, electronics, optics, and software meet for the first time. You own the full chain: verification planning, assembly, integration, test, non-conformances, and documentation. If an integration comes back wrong, it is yours to fix.
Our hardware has to work on a vehicle, on a boat, in Finland, in the Sahara, and in orbit. Timelines are short and testing needs to be rigerous. We do field tests, live failures, and iterate fast. The expectation is not that you know everything, it is that you figure it out fast, get it running, and fix issues quickly.

What you’ll build

  • Assembly, integration, and verification plans for C-UAS systems and space payloads

  • Integration and test procedures, and the reports behind them

  • Environmental test campaigns: vibration, shock, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, and EMC

  • Ground support equipment: mechanical and electrical GSE, fixtures, and test harnesses

  • Verification matrices tracing requirements to test evidence

  • Non-conformance handling, configuration control, and build records

  • The integration area, cleanroom practices, and handling standards we will run on

What we are looking for

You must have NATO member state citizenship.

Required

  • MSc in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

  • 3+ years in assembly, integration, and test of hardware, or a strong junior with integration campaigns in their portfolio

  • Hands-on integration: you have assembled, cabled, and tested systems yourself

  • Environmental test experience: vibration, thermal, or EMC

  • Writing test procedures and reports that others can follow and trust

  • Comfortable with standard lab equipment and data acquisition

Good to Have

  • Hve worked with ECSS verification and test standards (ECSS-E-ST-10-02, ECSS-E-ST-10-03)

  • Defence qualification to MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, or similar

  • Laser safety and optical alignment

  • Python for test automation and data analysis

  • German for dealing with local test houses and suppliers

Full-time, on-site in Munich. Early-employee equity.
